Tile and natural stone
Tile and natural stone floors that shrug off decades.
For kitchens, baths, entries, and anywhere water and traffic collide, nothing beats porcelain, ceramic, or natural stone. Our tile store in Washington, DC carries all three, and we install what we sell. Done right, a tile floor is a once-in-a-generation purchase. Doing it right is the part we handle.
Where tile and stone win
- Kitchens and baths: fully waterproof, endlessly cleanable
- Entries and mudrooms: stands up to grit, salt, and boots
- Radiant heat: tile pairs beautifully with heated floors
- Style range: from classic subway to large-format porcelain and real marble, slate, and travertine
Porcelain or ceramic tile?
- Porcelain tile is made from denser clay fired at higher temperatures. It is stronger, less porous, and more resistant to moisture, which makes it the choice for high-traffic floors, bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor spaces. Today’s porcelain convincingly copies natural stone and wood.
- Ceramic tile is natural clay, fired and glazed. It is lighter and usually more affordable, ideal for walls and backsplashes, and with proper care it makes a lasting floor in lower-traffic rooms.
Choosing the right tile
- Size: large-format tile makes a small room feel bigger, while mosaics add detail
- Finish: glossy tile brightens a room but shows smudges; matte reads softer and more natural
- Safety: choose slip-resistant tile for bathrooms, mudrooms, and other wet areas
- Color: neutrals are timeless, but a bold tile can carry a whole room
Tile installation
Tile projects live and die on what is underneath: a flat, solid subfloor, the right setting materials, and a layout planned before the first tile goes down. We supply and install tile for kitchens, bathrooms, entries, and commercial spaces, so the people who sold you the tile are the people who answer for the floor.
Natural stone
Marble, granite, slate, travertine: real stone brings variation no printed surface can copy. It asks for proper sealing and care, and we will tell you honestly whether it suits how your household lives.
Countertops
Remodeling a kitchen or bath? We supply countertops too, so the surfaces above the floor match the quality below it. Ask about options when you visit.

Porcelain or ceramic tile: which is better for floors?
