Luxury vinyl and vinyl
LVP and LVT: wood and stone looks that laugh at water.
Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) look convincingly like wood or stone, feel warm underfoot, and do not care about spills, dogs, or wet boots. For kitchens, baths, basements, and busy households across Washington, DC, luxury vinyl flooring is usually our first recommendation.
Why people choose it
- Waterproof cores that handle kitchens, baths, and basements
- Scratch and dent resistance built for pets and kids
- Warmer and quieter than tile, softer than hardwood
- Realistic wood and stone visuals, plank or tile format
LVP or LVT: what is the difference?
- Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) comes in long, narrow planks that look like hardwood. It is the pick if you love the look of wood but want something waterproof and easier on the budget.
- Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) replicates ceramic or stone tile. You get marble and modern tile looks without the cold floor or the high price.
Both are equally durable and equally easy to care for. The choice comes down to the look you want in the room.
How luxury vinyl is built
- Wear layer: the clear top shield against scratches, dents, and stains
- Design layer: a high-definition print of wood, stone, or tile, realistic enough that you will want to touch it
- Core: rigid in rigid core vinyl, flexible in flexible vinyl, and the source of the floor’s strength and comfort
- Backing: adds stability, sometimes with an attached underlayment for a quieter, softer floor
Rigid core or flexible vinyl?
Rigid core luxury vinyl clicks together into a floating floor and bridges small dips in the subfloor, which makes it a favorite for condos and basements over concrete. Flexible vinyl is thinner and lies close to the subfloor, a good fit where floor height matters. We carry both, so we recommend whichever suits your room.

Luxury vinyl or laminate?
Both give you the wood look for less. Luxury vinyl is quieter and waterproof to the core; laminate feels harder and more like wood underfoot. We sell both, so the answer is whichever fits your room.
