Hardwood installation
Hardwood floor installation, done by the store that sold it.
Capital Carpet sells solid and engineered hardwood from its 20,000 sq. ft. showroom in Washington, DC and installs it too. One call covers the advice, the samples, the order, and the installation.
One call does it all
Buying hardwood in one place and hiring an installer in another leaves you in the middle when something goes wrong. With us, the same company gives the advice, brings the samples, places the order, and installs the floor. If anything ever needs attention, there is one number to call: (202) 234-5656.

Solid or engineered: the install starts with the right floor
- Solid hardwood is nailed down over a wood subfloor on the main level and above, and it can be refinished for generations.
- Engineered hardwood can be glued down or floated, including over concrete and below grade, which makes it the right hardwood for basements and condos.
What a good hardwood installation gets right
- A flat, dry, solid subfloor: most floor problems start underneath
- Wood that has adjusted to the home before it goes down
- The right method for the wood and the subfloor: nailed, glued, or floating
- A layout planned before the first board, so the room reads straight from the doorway
- Clean transitions and trim where the new floor meets the old
Our staff measures precisely and plans the job with you, so the installation goes right the first time.
Unfinished hardwood, sanded and finished on site
Some floors are installed raw and finished in place, so you choose the exact stain and sheen and get one continuous finish across the room. Our sand and finish crews handle that step too.
How sand and finish worksHardwood installation questions
Do you install hardwood flooring in Washington, DC?
Yes. Capital Carpet LLC sells and installs solid and engineered hardwood across Washington, DC and nearby Maryland and Virginia, from our showroom at 608 Rhode Island Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002.
Can hardwood be installed over concrete?
Engineered hardwood can, glued down or floated over the slab. Solid hardwood is a poor fit directly on concrete or below grade, so for basements and concrete condos, engineered is the right choice.
Can I see the hardwood before it is installed?
Yes. Our 20,000 sq. ft. showroom holds hundreds of solid and engineered hardwood samples and is open Mon-Sat 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Prefer to choose at home? Book a shop-at-home visit and we will bring samples to your door.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. We measure, then quote plainly, and same day appointments are available.
Can I finance a hardwood floor?
Yes. Lendvious offers loans from $1,000 to $100,000 with rates as low as 6.99% and terms up to 84 months, and the Mohawk Credit Card is available through Synchrony.
Do you also refinish hardwood?
