Vinyl flooring installation

Vinyl flooring installation, done by the store that sold it.

Capital Carpet sells luxury vinyl plank (LVP), luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and sheet vinyl from its Washington, DC showroom and installs them too. One call covers the advice, the samples, the order, and the installation.

Why vinyl suits DC homes

Luxury vinyl looks like wood or stone and handles water, pets and heavy use. That makes it a strong fit for the rooms that are hardest on a floor: kitchens, baths, and basements, along with condos built on concrete.

Which vinyl, which installation

  • Rigid core LVP and LVT usually click together into a floating floor and bridge small dips in the subfloor
  • Flexible vinyl is thinner and lies close to the subfloor, a good fit where floor height matters
  • Sheet vinyl goes down in wide pieces with few seams, which suits laundry rooms and rentals

We carry all three, so we recommend whichever suits your room, not whichever we happen to stock.

What a good vinyl installation gets right

  • A flat, clean, dry subfloor: dips and bumps can show through a thin floor
  • The right method for the product and the room, following the manufacturer’s instructions
  • A layout planned before the first plank, so the room looks straight from the doorway
  • Room for the floor to move where a floating floor needs it
  • Clean transitions and trim where the new floor meets the old

Because we sell and install, one team answers for your floor. If anything ever needs attention, there is one number to call: (202) 234-5656.

Vinyl installation questions

Do you install vinyl flooring in Washington, DC?

Yes. Capital Carpet LLC sells and installs luxury vinyl plank, luxury vinyl tile and sheet vinyl across Washington, DC and nearby Maryland and Virginia, from our showroom at 608 Rhode Island Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002.

Can luxury vinyl be installed over concrete?

Yes. A waterproof core makes luxury vinyl one of the best floors for concrete slabs and basements, including condos. The slab still has to be flat and dry, so we look at it before quoting.

Can vinyl go over my existing floor?

Sometimes. It depends on whether the floor underneath is flat and solid, and on the vinyl you choose. We look at the floor during the free estimate and tell you plainly.

Can I see LVP and LVT before it is installed?

Yes. Visit our 20,000 sq. ft. showroom, open Mon-Sat 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM, or book a shop-at-home visit and we will bring samples to your door. You can also preview floors in a photo of your room with our room visualizer.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. We measure, then quote plainly, and same day appointments are available.

Do you install vinyl in commercial spaces?

Yes. We supply and install VCT and resilient floors for commercial projects, with a project manager overseeing the job from estimating to final inspection.
